‘Yes, I should have texted him first:’ After years of split, Mahira Khan admits her mistake
Pakistani superstar Mahira Khan lately sat for a podcast session with fellow host Ahmed Ali Butt for his show where she reflected on the following controversy between herself and renowned writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. Expressing a slight regret over her action of frustrated tweet against Khalil, Mahira admitted her mistake, saying: “Yes, I think I did wrong, I should have texted him first.”

Khalil was quite stringent regarding the same and was used to saying that he would never forget and never forgive the action of Mahira Khan of doing a ‘cheap’ tweet about him. He often expressed disappointment and said that instead of sharing her opinion on a social media platform, the actress should have texted him first and criticized him privately.

Moving on, in the latest round of event, in the podcast Mahira Khan was asked about her views on Khalil ur Rehman’s request that she should have asked him about the whole situation first through a message: however, while responding, the actress humbly addressed that same and admitted that she thinks that her initial response was not quite appropriate she should have approached the writer through a phone call or a text.

If you think I did wrong, yes, I did—I should have texted him. He is right; I could have asked him directly, but that was my mistake. What happened was, I was shooting for Neelofar during those days and when I saw this news at 4 a.m., I got shocked because it was all about abuse—he was abusing a woman. For me, it didn’t matter who that woman was. Also, we don’t have the guts to call out bigwigs for fear of losing our jobs. I saw it, I got angry, and I tweeted. It was my mother who told me I was wrong. She said, ‘He was senior; you should have asked him first. And if the next day someone would have questioned you, you could say that you don’t agree with that”. Also, that was one incident, but many incidents of the same sort have been happening. I can’t separate the artist from that man and that’s my stand on it. Yes, I could have handled it differently.”
