BTS wins Artist of the Year again at American Music Awards

South Korean K-pop sensation BTS won the top “Artist of the Year” honour for the second time at the American Music Awards held in Las Vegas, further cementing the group’s global dominance in the music industry, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

The band also secured awards for Best Male Pop Artist and “Song of the Summer” for their hit track “Swim”, outperforming several major international artists including Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, Harry Styles and Lady Gaga.

Accepting the award on stage, BTS thanked fans around the world for their continued support over the past 13 years.

“We have won this honour once again because of the love and support of our fans worldwide,” the group said during the ceremony.

BTS had temporarily stepped away from group activities in 2022 as members began South Korea’s mandatory military service.

However, the group returned earlier this year with its fifth studio album, Arirang, which remained at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for two consecutive weeks following its release in March.

Meanwhile, veteran singer Billy Idol was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the music industry.
