Mexico offers to host Iran football team during FIFA World Cup 2026

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced that Mexico is ready to host the Iranian national football team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to foreign media reports.

Speaking to reporters, Sheinbaum said Mexico had no reason to deny accommodation or support to Iran national football team and was prepared to fully cooperate regarding the team’s stay during the tournament.

The statement came after reports suggested that the United States had declined to host Iran during the upcoming World Cup, prompting Mexico to offer support.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Mexico, and Canada in the first-ever edition of the tournament to be jointly hosted by three countries.
