In a tweet, Bilawal said “I will continue working from home & will be addressing PPP foundation day via video link. Wear a mask everyone, see you on the other side, IA.”

Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto isolated himself after his political advisor Jamil Ahmed Soomro tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday last.

According to a spokesman for Bilawal House, the PPP chairman isolated himself after his adviser Jameel Soomro contracted the virus. Soomro also quarantined himself after the test. Soomro remained with the party chairman throughout the election campaign in Gilgit Baltistan.

Bilawal said he will address the PPP foundation day function through a video link.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 40 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 386,198. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 7,843.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) released on Thursday morning, 3,306 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sindh remained the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

Interestingly, the news of Bilawal Bhutto's testing positive for coronavirus came at a time when the leaders of the government and the Opposition's PDM are locked in trading statements about the public rallies. Government ministers claimed the ruling PTI had cancelled all the rallies in wake of the second wave of the Covid-10 but the Opposition is not budging from holding the public rallies and their next one is going to be held in Multan on November 30.

Staff contract virus
Following Bilawal Bhutto’s coronavirus confirmation, precautions set in at Bilawal House Karachi where all staff members, including PPP chairman’s personal and security teams, underwent Covid-19 tests and five of them have been found infected.

Shehbaz, Shibli pray for Bilawal’s early recovery
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has prayed for the early recovery of Bilawal Bhutto.
Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz also conveyed good wishes for the PPP chairman. He said coronavirus does not differentiate between leaders and the public. Opposition leaders should take care of each other’s health and also of the lives of the public, he added.

Sindh CM ends quarantine
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who tested positive for coronavirus some two weeks ago, was due to come out of the quarantine on Thursday.
