It seems minting money is now the sole principle in the country as the private companies associated with the Pakistan Railways have started looting the poor with around 11 times increase in the parcel rate, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Previously, the cost for a parcel was Rs130, but things changed for the worse, at least for the people, as the charges have been increased to Rs1,400 after different trains were handed over to the private sector, sources say.

It is the S Jamil and Co which resorted to this hike with the help of Pakistan Railways officials, they added.

According to the sources, the freight charges for a refrigerator has jumped to Rs5,000 against the pre-privatisation level of less than Rs800.

Similarly, you would have to pay Rs225 for a bike in the past but the rate has been increased to Rs800.
