PTA reduces rates of mobile phone calls from Jan 01, 2022

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has announced reducing the rates of the calls made from mobile phones, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Friday.

According to a statement issued by PTA, mobile termination rates on outgoing calls have been reduced from 70 paise to 50 paise per minute.

The PTA statement said that the mobile termination rate (MTR) would now be 50 paise per minute from January 1, 2022.

As per the report, the reduction in the MTR was made in consultation with the telecom industry.

The PTA further said that the mobile termination rate would also be reduced to 40 paise per minute from July 2022 and after July 2023, it would be reduced to 30 paise only.

The statement expressed a hope that after the reduction in call rates, customers would be able to get more discounts on off-net calls and companies would come up with new offers and packages for the callers.
