Orry appears before Mumbai Police as $3 million drug case widens
Orhan “Orry” Awatramani, a well-known figure in Mumbai’s celebrity circuit, drew intense public and media attention today when he presented himself for questioning before the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police in connection with an ongoing investigation tied to a massive drug seizure.Orry threaded his way through a large crowd of onlookers and paparazzi outside the ANC office, as he declined to speak to the press while officers recorded his statement.
The inquiry stems from a high-value mephedrone (MD) case that first came to light after authorities uncovered an alleged drug-manufacturing set-up in Maharashtra’s Sangli district in March 2024 and seized 126 kilos of contraband. Investigators estimate the quantity seized to be worth roughly $3 million (252 crore indian rupees), a discovery that has since prompted extensive probe activity and several arrests.

When Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh (also known as Salim Shaikh or Lavish) was arrested and deported from Dubai in November 2025, the inquiry gained impetus. Notably, Shaikh is allegedly close to Salim Dola, the drug lord on the run who is a major player in the Dawood Ibrahim gang, and his son Taher. The scheme included using hawala methods to launder money and delivering drugs in opulent vehicles.
Shaikh stated during questioning that he planned high-profile rave parties for public figures, politicians, and celebrities in the fashion and film industries in India and outside.

He is reported to have mentioned many names, including Orry, Shraddha Kapoor, her brother Siddhant Kapoor, Nora Fatehi, filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan, and Zeeshan Siddique (politician). He also alleged that Alishah Parkar, who is nephew of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was present at a few of these gatherings.
According to official disclosures emerging from the probe, the ANC has summoned individuals named by Shaikh to either corroborate or refute the allegations and to establish whether any of them have substantive links to the trafficking network. Orry’s name surfaced in the course of that interrogation, prompting a formal request for his appearance.
Authorities emphasise that the summonses issued so far are for questioning and verification; no one named in the disclosures, including Orry, has been formally charged in relation to the 252-crore indian rupees case at this stage.
Orry was also called by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in March 2024 for reportedly consuming alcohol at a hotel in a prohibited pilgrimage area.

He has cultivated a public profile as a socialite and influencer, frequently photographed at high-profile events alongside Bollywood personalities and their families. He is the son of Suraj K. Awatramani, who is involved in the real estate, hospitality, and beverages industry. A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York, the influencer has worked in roles related to fashion and design, and is known for his bold outfit choices.
