Pakistan, Saudi Arabia to boost cricket ties under Vision 2030

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi held a significant meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, reaffirming a shared commitment to transform cricket into a bridge of friendship and regional harmony.
During the meeting in Riyadh, both sides discussed plans to promote cricket in Saudi Arabia and emphasised the need to engage the youth in constructive sporting activities, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would work together to develop sports, particularly cricket, as a means of strengthening bilateral ties, adding that joint initiatives would soon be finalised through practical planning.
The PCB chairman praised Prince Abdulaziz’s leadership in advancing Saudi Arabia’s sports sector under Vision 2030, noting that the Kingdom had marked a new chapter in its sporting history by securing the hosting of major global tournaments.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the Saudi Minister for Sports on securing hosting rights for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, the Asian Winter Games 2029, the Asian Games 2034, and the FIFA World Cup 2034.
Mohsin Naqvi said both countries could create new opportunities for their young populations through the development of cricket infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, joint training programmes, bilateral tours and youth-level tournaments.
He added that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia aimed to strengthen sports cooperation further, with relevant institutions set to accelerate coordination and finalise joint measures aimed at offering more positive avenues for young people.
