Sindh govt initiates process to recruit children of deceased employees

The Sindh government has initiated the process to recruit the children of the government employees who died during service.

The decision has been taken in compliance with the recent court orders.

The Services, General Administration and Coordination Department has issued a formal letter requesting details of all vacant posts, which fall under the death quota. Departments have been directed to submit the required information by tomorrow to ensure swift compliance.

Letters have been dispatched to a wide range of senior officials, including the chairman of the Planning and Development Board, Senior Member Board of Revenue and the chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inquiry, Inspection and Implementation Team.

Similar directives have been sent to the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Establishment, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and the secretaries and additional secretaries of all provincial departments. All divisional commissioners have also received instructions to prepare and forward the necessary data.

The move follows the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s orders to restore the death quota, a policy that the Sindh government had previously abolished. With the court’s intervention, the provincial administration has now initiated steps to ensure that dependents of deceased employees are given due employment opportunities as mandated.

The decision marks a significant step toward supporting families who lose their primary breadwinners while in government service.
