The Second RISJA Inter Media Cricket Tournament witnessed dominant performances as Dunya News and Dawn News registered convincing wins in their respective Group A and Group B matches played Friday.

In the Group A clash, Public News, after winning the toss and electing to bat, struggled badly and were bowled out for just 70 runs in 10.5 overs. M. Murtaza (14), Arshaad Ahmed (12), and Usman Mughal (12) were the only notable scorers. Dunya News’ bowling attack, led by Maazzam with an outstanding spell of 4 wickets for just 8 runs, and Naseer with 2 for 13, ripped through the batting line-up. In response, Dunya News comfortably chased down the target at 71-1 in 9 overs, with Imran Ali’s superb unbeaten knock of 41 off 30 balls guiding them home. He was rightfully declared Player of the Match.

The Group B encounter saw Dawn News take charge after winning the toss and batting first. They posted a strong total of 153-6 in 15 overs, with Zeeshan Ali Butt shining with an unbeaten 39 off 18 balls and M. Saqib contributing 23 runs. ARY News bowlers Waseem Khan (2-32) and Adil Raja (2-34) picked up wickets but failed to contain the flow of runs. Chasing 154, ARY News could only manage 112-4 in their allotted overs despite Tariq’s fighting 57 off 44 balls. Dawn News secured a comfortable 41-run victory, with Zeeshan Ali Butt named Player of the Match for his impactful innings.
