Pakistan showbiz stars have come forward to support Maulana Tariq Jameel, whose comments against media have created a lot of stir.

Maulana Tariq Jameel has to apologise for his remarks against the media he made during the Ehsaas Telethon on Pakistani channels.

The Maulana had stirred a storm among journalists and members of the civil society by calling media houses around the world, including Pakistan, “liars” and said the organisations “needed to be more truthful”.

Several celebrities such as Hamza Ali Abbasi, Danish Taimoor, Ahsan Khan, Muneeb Butt, Humaima Malick, Feroze Khan, Waqar Zaka and other came forward to support the Islamic scholar and demanded the anchorpersons Hamid Mir and Muhammad Malick to apologies.

Taking to Instagram, TV actor Muneeb Butt wrote: “Aaj meri nazar me Mualana Tariq Jameel shb ki izzat aur mazeed bargayee hai! Bht barey insaan hain ap. (Today my respect for Mualana Tariq Jameel has been increased. You are very great person.)

Humaima Malick shared: “Where are the celebrities of our country who post pictures, selfies wearing shalwar kameez for a day saying juma Mubarak ab kaha hain woh sub jub humaray ulema deen ki tuheen hoi? Ab kisi ney kuch nahee kehna ? Standing next to tariq jamil posting pictures with him and now?”
