Shehbaz briefs Nawaz on national security decisions after Pahalgam incident

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday met with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umrah, Raiwind, to brief him on the critical decisions made during Pakistan’s National Security Committee meeting in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident, sources revealed.

During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif assured Nawaz that "the future of the country is bright and we are fully awake."

He emphasised that if India commits any aggression, "we will respond with a brick for a stone," sending a clear message that Pakistan would not tolerate any misadventures across the border.

Calling out India's narrative, Shehbaz labelled the Pahalgam incident a "pre-planned drama," adding that "India has staged similar acts in the past to serve political purposes."

He pointed out that even during periods of active conflict, decisions like suspending the Indus Waters Treaty were never taken, hinting at the importance of maintaining diplomatic stability despite provocations.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace in the region, saying, "Pakistan wants peace, not conflict." He also strongly condemned all forms of terrorism, underlining the country's stance against violence, no matter the source.
