Famous dentist arrested over suicide of Dr Maha Ali
Karachi police have arrested a prominent dentist in connection with the suicide of a young lady doctor after her father filed a complaint holding three persons responsible for the death of her beautiful daughter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Police in DHA registered the case on the application filed by Asif Ali Shah, father of Dr Maha Ali, under sections 354, 337, 506 and 37 and arrested a famous dentist, Dr Irfan Qureshi, while raids are being conducted for the arrest of other two men – Junaid Khan and Waqas Hassan Rizvi.
According to a statement of Dr Maha’s father Asif Ali Shah, these three men were operating as a gang in the Defence area. “Junaid Khan’s sister Mehwish was a friend of my daughter. These men who do not have a good reputation target girls and introduce them to drugs. I modestly request severe action against these men,” Asif Ali Shah added.
Asif Shah also rejected as baseless reports that his daughter and Junaid Khan were about to get married.
According to SSP Investigation Bashir Barohi, Junaid Khan is facing charges of torturing Dr Maha Ali, injuring her and breaking her one tooth. The arrested accused, Irfan Qureshi, is accused of calling Dr Maha at his office and offering her drugs.
The three men were also accused of blackmailing the girl and forcing her to perform indecent acts.
According to the police, the complainant father was of the firm opinion that due to these men her daughter was caught in such a situation that she left with no choice but to commit the suicide.
The police have already arrested two accused – Tabish and Saad – for providing a pistol to Dr Maha Ali.
