4,149 petrol pumps illegal across the country, reports FBR

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has presented a report about illegal petrol pumps across the country to Prime Minister Imran Khan, sources said on Saturday.
The report revealed that a total of 4,149 petrol pumps were illegal. Balochistan topped with 2,309, followed by Punjab with 1364, KP with 344 and Sindh with 132 such stations, it said.
The operation against illegal petrol pump will be done after taking into confidence provincial administration. Backed by Rangers and local police, special teams will take the action.
Last week, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced a crackdown on petrol smuggling, warning the owners of filling station dealing in the smuggled petrol will face the music.
The minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan issued the directives to take action in seven days.
He said warned the owner of petrol pumps doing illegal trade might face the lifetime ban. A total of $7 billion can be saved by eliminating petrol smuggling and stressed the need for a comprehensive campaign to control the crime.
