The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced resumption of flight operation after Saudi Arabia has relaxed travel restrictions on Pakistan.

As Saudi Arabia has allowed Pakistan to run only one-side evacuation flights due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Pakistan has decided to operate flights to the kingdom to bring the stranded Pakistanis back.

PIA Chief Executive Officer Arshad Malik has directed the national flag carrier to start the Saudi Arabia operation from Monday, December 28, despite the fact that the airline will have to bear an extra cost for this operation.

Malik said it was the foremost responsibility of the PIA to bring home the Pakistanis stranded abroad. To minimise the financial impact of this operation, the PIA will run these flights to Saudi Arabia as cargo flights.
