Customs staffers foil bids to smuggle 12 gold bars at Karachi Airport

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement team deputed at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) thwarted two attempts to smuggle 12 gold bars worth Rs44 million to the USA, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday. 

According to details, after receiving credible information, the customs team intercepted a family who was ready to depart for the United States of America and recovered four gold bars from their luggage in the international departure lounge.

In another operation, a customs team intercepted a suspicious passenger and started inspection of his luggage.

During detailed checking customs team recovered eight gold bars from his custody. Customs team seized all the gold rods under the Customs Act and started legal proceedings.
