Rain lashes Punjab, AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, parts of Balochistan
Widespread rainfall lashes Lahore and several other cities across the country turning the weather pleasant ahead of Ramazan, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Rain showers are reported in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kasur, Attock and Rahim Yar Khan, while various parts of Balochistan also experienced downpours.
The Met office has warned of heavy rains and snowfall during the next 24 hours in Murree, Galiat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astor, Hunza, Skardu, Neelam Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli. The residents of the areas and travelers have been directed to remain alerts of landslides.
Tourists are advised to be careful and avoid unnecessary travel during rain and snow and risk of landslides in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree and Guliyat.
The intermittent rain and snowfall continue in different parts of Azad Kashmir, resulting in road closures in upper regions. In Gilgit Baltistan, heavy rains and landslides caused the blockage of multiple sections of the Karakoram Highway.
Near Dasu, a landslide triggered by rainfall left several people stranded, while a flash flood at Lal Pari washed away a portion of the road. The district administration advised residents to avoid travelling on the Karakoram Highway for the next two days due to safety concerns.
Due to heavy rain in Upper Kohistan, the Karakoram highway remained closed due to landslides at many places. Resultantly, passengers were facing severe difficulties.
Quetta, Sibi, and Kalat also received heavy rainfall, leading to a drop in temperatures, while light showers in Sindh turns weather chilly.
During the next 24 hours, more rain and snowfall on mountains with strong winds and thundershowers during the day time in Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Butgram, Bunir, Abbottabad, Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Bajaur, Nowshera, Peshawar and Charsadda.
The weather is likely to remain cold and partly cloudy in most of the districts of Punjab especially Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Chakwal Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Okara, Qasor, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Sheikhupura.
