Flying of drones, phantoms and camcopters banned under Section 144 in twin cities

The district administration has imposed a complete ban on flying drones, phantoms, and camcopters in the federal capital, citing security concerns, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

The District Magistrate of Islamabad issued a notification under Section 144, declaring that the use of any Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) without prior permission is strictly prohibited in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to the notification, only law enforcement agencies and the ICT administration will be exempted from the ban.

No individual or private entity may operate drones or similar aerial devices without official authorization.

The restriction has come into immediate effect and will remain enforced for a period of two months.

Authorities warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators.

Officials said the decision was made in view of prevailing security threats.

The notification will be published in the official gazette, and the directive has been formally issued.
