An accountability court in Lahore has ordered the Punjab government to include PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s personal doctors in the medical board set up for his medical check-up, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court on Wednesday issued a written verdict regarding Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly’s application about setting up of a medical board.

The court ordered the Punjab Health Secretary to immediately provide medical reported to Shehbaz Sharif.

The three-page court verdict was issued by Accountability Court’s Admin Judge Jawwadul Hassan.

The judge also ordered the inclusion of Shehbaz’s personal doctors – Prof Arif Khan, Prof Aqeel Bari and Prof Tahir Nasar – in the medical board.

The verdict says as per the application Shehbaz Sharif is a patient of cancer and brain tumour. “Provision of medical reports to him is his legal right,” the judge added.

The judge ruled under the law Shehbaz Sharif’s application cannot be ignored.

Earlier, during the hearing of the money laundering case, Shehbaz Sharif had submitted an appreciation letter of Chinese envoy in the court on which, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor raised objections.

Earlier, the Director General of NAB Lahore had submitted a report in the court through an investigation officer on freezing the properties of Shehbaz Sharif’s wife Nusrat Shahbaz, daughter Rabia Imran and others.

Shehbaz Sharif told that there was no doctor dealing with cancer patients present in the government panel, therefore, he requested the court to include his personal doctors on the board.

The accountability court had declared Shehbaz Sharif’s wife Nusrat Shahbaz as a proclaimed offender in the money laundering case. Nusrat Shahbaz was declared absconder over her continuous absence in case hearings.

On November 11, 2020, Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif were indicted in the money laundering reference by the accountability court.

All the accused in the case pleaded not guilty. Shehbaz Sharif, while rejecting allegations of the anti-graft watchdog, said that he was being politically victimized.
