The federal government has decided to halt gas supply to captive power plants.
As the federal cabinet has endorsed the decisions taken at the January 21 meeting of the cabinet committee on energy, the government has also decided to halt gas supply to hundreds of industrial units.
It was the cabinet committee, which had initially decided to suspend gas supply to captive power plants as part of its efforts to save gas for domestic consumers. Gas supply to industrial units will be halted from February 1. Gas supply to export industry and power plants will be halted from March 1.
