Dar vows to steer country out of economic crisis

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has vowed to steer the country out of the economic crisis, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The finance minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Green Line Express Train Service in Islamabad on Friday. 

He said that the government is working hard to bring an economic turnaround in the country. He expressed his hope that the situation would be improved before the next general election. 

He was of the view that those who ruined economy should be held accountable. He lamented that during the last five years, the economy was brought to a precipice. He demanded a probe into the country’s economic ruin.

Dar said that in the previous tenure of the PML-N government, inflation was very low.

He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government is facing so many challenges. 

Talking about Pakistan Railways, he said soon it will stand on its own feet and the resilient Railways will also help revive the country’s economy. 

He vowed to steer the country out of all crises. He said that the Green Line Express Train Service was destroyed but the railways minister has started it again. 

 - Assures full support to IT Industry 

Separately, while co-chairing a meeting along with Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Syed Amin -ul-Haque in Islamabad on Friday, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar pointed to the commitments made by the industry to the prime minister to rapidly enhance the IT export remittances to Pakistan.

Dar has assured full support to the IT Industry in resolving its concerns.

Progress on directions given by the prime minister in the meeting held on 5th January, 2023 to increase IT exports were reviewed.

Representatives of the IT industry shared recommendations with the finance minister for resolving immediate issues.

The industry acknowledged the focus of prime minister and finance minister and appreciated the efforts by the State Bank of Pakistan and Federal Board of Revenue to facilitate the IT sector.
