PDM ‘will not take part’ in by-elections on 33 NA seats

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has decided to not take part in the by-elections on 33 National Assembly seats in March as has been announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Sources informed that no member of the parties involved in the ruling alliance – PDM – would participate in the upcoming by-elections.

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced holding of by-elections on 33 National Assembly seats on March 16.

The ECP has also released schedule of the by-elections according to which nomination papers will be filed from February 6 to February 8.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on 9th February. Candidates will be allotted electoral symbols on February 23 by the ECP. Polling will be held on March 16.

By-elections will be held on nine National Assembly seats in Karachi, five in Rawalpindi, three in Islamabad, two in Multan and the same number of seats in Lahore.

By-elections will also be held on eight National Assembly constituencies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
