Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged in the Supreme Court the appointment of Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In the petition filed on Friday by Asad Umar in his capacity as PTI secretary general, it was prayed to the apex court to stop Mr Mohsin Naqvi from working as caretaker chief minister and also declare notification of his appointment as unconstitutional.
The PTI’s plea also urged the court to declare Caretaker Chief Minister Mr Mohsin Naqvi as “biased”.
The PTI has also challenged the notification for the appointment of Raja Riaz as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
Sh Rashid petition against CM
Former federal minister and Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has also challenged the appointment of Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as Punjab caretaker chief minister in the Supreme Court.
The AML leader requested the court to declare Mr Naqvi’s appointment unconstitutional.
The petition was filed by Sardar Abdur Razzaq Advocate on behalf of Sh Rashid in the apex court on Friday.
The petition stated that Mr Naqvi’s character has been emerged as anti-opposition and helper of the government. He was an important character in the operation to remove the PTI government.
The petition further stated that in the presence of Mr Naqvi, fair and transparent elections in Punjab could not be conducted.
The petition made federal law secretary, caretaker Punjab chief minister and Election Commission of Pakistan respondents in the case.
