Five terror suspects killed in CTD operation in Quetta, 10 personnel injured

Five terror suspects, including Sanaullah Agha and his two brothers, were killed during an operation in the Kali Karbala area of Pishin on Monday, police said.

According to a spokesperson for the Balochistan Police, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Quetta team launched a raid at around 8:00 am on the residence of terror suspect Sanaullah Agha and his brothers to arrest them in connection with multiple terrorism cases. However, the suspects opened fire on the police team instead of surrendering.

Despite repeated announcements by the police to lay down arms, the suspects continued firing at CTD personnel using sophisticated and modern weapons. In the exchange of fire, 10 CTD officers — Khadim Hussain, Manzoor Ahmed, Gul Muhammad, Khair Jan, Asadullah, Shamsher Ali, Ehsanullah, Aimal and Moaz Ahmed — sustained injuries.

The suspects initially fled the scene in an injured condition after retaliatory fire by the CTD team. Upon receiving information, additional CTD personnel led by DIG CTD Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya reached the area and took part in the operation.

A clearance and search operation was conducted in the area, which continued until around 4:30 pm. During the operation, Sanaullah Agha, a key accused wanted in terrorism and other serious cases, was killed along with five other suspects, including his two brothers, in a police encounter.

Police said a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, rockets and grenades were recovered from the possession of the suspects. The slain individuals were reportedly involved in several terrorism-related cases.

Further investigations are underway, the CTD spokesperson added.
