Gillespie set for return to Pakistan cricket as PSL Hyderabad head coach

Former Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie is set to make a return to Pakistan cricket after finalising a deal to join the Pakistan Super League (PSL), 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday. 

According to sources familiar with the matter, Gillespie, a former Australian fast bowler, will take charge as head coach of the Hyderabad franchise, which is set to make its debut in the upcoming edition of the PSL.

Discussions between Gillespie and the Hyderabad management have been completed, paving the way for his formal appointment.

The Hyderabad franchise management is expected to officially announce the team’s name, logo, and full management structure in the coming days.

Gillespie previously served as head coach of Pakistan’s Test team, where he was involved in red-ball planning and player development.

His return is seen as a significant boost for the new PSL franchise as it looks to establish itself in the league with experienced international leadership.

Widely regarded as a fine former fast bowler, Gillespie has built an extensive coaching résumé across international and domestic cricket, including stints in England’s county circuit and various T20 leagues.
