Punjab govt runs short of safety rods for Basant Festival

The Punjab government is facing a shortage of safety rods, which are being distributed among motorcyclists for the Basant Festival in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Tuesday.

According to details, the Punjab government provided only a 20 percent quota of safety rods in Lahore-registered motorcycles.

The Punjab government provided only 1 million safety rods to traffic police personnel while the number of registered bikers in the province are 56,24,000,00 in Lahore.

The Punjab government purchased 4,00,000 safety rods made with normal material and 6,00,000 made with metal.

The safety rods with normal material are being sold at Rs50 per piece, and the metal rods at Rs150 per piece.

Sources said that the data of all those persons who purchased safety rods is being collected, including CNIC, registration number, and mobile number.

The rods are being distributed at more than 100 locations in Lahore, and the traffic police installed 1,50,000 rods on the motorcycles.
