Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) head Chaudhry Shujaat said on Wednesday that the greatest responsibility for improving the country’s situation rested on the shoulders of politicians, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.    

In a statement, he said that politicians had the ability to guide the nation to a right path. “Let us all put our all political differences aside and not only think about resolving the issues confronting the common man such as economy but also take steps to resolve them,” he asserted.  

Veteran politician opined that masses were not interested in listening to what the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) said about Pakistan’s economy. “Please don’t lecture them on these organisations and what their viewpoints were on the country’s economic situation,” he appealed to the politicians.

Shujaat further said that never ever in the country’s history had there been such a severe crisis that had shaken the country economically. “Everybody knows that whatever is happening in the country these days is due to the political situation,” he said, and underscored the need for working together and developing a ‘working relationship’ to pull the country out of these hard times.
