Lahore cops arrested red-handed selling ecstasy pills at secret dance party

In a shocking incident, three serving policemen were arrested for selling ecstasy pills at a dance party in Lahore. 

According to a report by the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday, the arrests were made by Masti Gate police during a targeted operation.

The arrested officers were later identified as Constable Mohammad Idrees, Mohsin Sajjad, and Asif. 

Police confirmed that all three were currently posted at the Nawab Town Police Station.

During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered a total of 47 ecstasy pills from the suspects' possession. 

A formal First Information Report (FIR) was immediately registered against the arrested officers at Masti Gate Police Station.

This crackdown comes under a broader campaign launched by Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police Lahore, Faisal Kamran, who had earlier ordered a strict crackdown against drug-abusing dance parties proliferating in the city. 

His directives aim to dismantle both the consumer and supplier networks, even if it means turning inward toward the police force itself.

Ecstasy, also known by its chemical name MDMA, is both a stimulant and a hallucinogen. It produces energising effects along with altered sensory perceptions and heightened emotional responses. 

Often referred to as a “party drug,” it is popular among adolescents and young adults to reduce inhibitions and induce euphoria, emotional closeness, empathy, and increased sexuality.

Typically, ecstasy comes in pill or powder form, often stamped with colorful logos and nicknames like Adam, Disco Biscuit, Hug Drug, XTC, and Molly. 

It can be swallowed in capsule or pill form, crushed and snorted, or occasionally smoked.

High doses can interfere with the body's ability to regulate temperature, leading to hyperthermia. This condition can cause liver and kidney failure, brain swelling, and even death. 

Repeated use in a short period can result in toxic accumulation within the body due to MDMA’s complex metabolism.
