Pakistan to launch new remote sensing satellite from China on July 31

Pakistan’s new remote sensing satellite is set to launch on July 31, 2025, from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to a statement from SUPARCO (Pakistan’s Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission), the advanced satellite is designed to play a vital role in monitoring crops, providing accurate agricultural data, and supporting urban planning initiatives. 

It will also enhance environmental surveillance and disaster preparedness by delivering early warnings for floods, earthquakes, and landslides.

According to SUPARCO, the satellite will also help in tracking glacial melting and deforestation, supporting natural resource management and monitoring progress on national development projects, including CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor).

The new satellite will strengthen Pakistan’s existing space fleet alongside PRSS-1 and EO-1, and is a significant milestone in achieving the goals set under SUPARCO’s Vision 2047 and the National Space Policy.

“This launch is a practical reflection of Pakistan’s long-term vision for space exploration and national development,” said the SUPARCO spokesperson.
