AJK election commission denies reports of polls postponement in Mirpur Division

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has dismissed reports circulating on social media about the postponement of elections in Mirpur Division, describing them as false and misleading.

In a statement, an Election Commission spokesperson said a purported press release claiming that the elections had been postponed was fake and had not been issued by the commission.

The spokesperson said certain miscreants were spreading false propaganda regarding the electoral process in an attempt to mislead voters.

The Election Commission clarified that it had issued no notification or press release announcing the postponement of elections.

Reassuring voters, the commission said polling would be held as scheduled in all three districts of Mirpur Division—Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber—today.

The Election Commission urged the public not to pay attention to rumours and advised voters to rely only on authentic information issued by official sources.

The spokesperson also asked citizens to follow the official pages of the Information Department for verified updates and election-related information.
