Terror suspect reveals recruitment, funding tactics of militant network
A suspected terrorist arrested during a recent security operation has allegedly made key disclosures about the activities of a militant network, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Authorities identified the suspect as Habibullah, a resident of Seerandoh in Ornach tehsil of Khuzdar district.
During interrogation, he claimed he was lured into joining the organization through false promises and financial incentives.
According to security sources, Habibullah said he was initially taken to Chanal Dasht, where he underwent ideological indoctrination before being shifted to the Sargadh camp for military training.
He alleged that he received training in handling weapons and explosives, carrying out ambushes, and concealing his identity to evade arrest after attacks.
The suspect claimed he was paid Rs25,000 for participating in militant activities and came into contact with the group during sit-ins organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), which security officials described as a proxy of the militant network.
Habibullah further alleged that he was responsible for transporting weapons, ammunition, explosives, food and medicines to militant groups.
He claimed to have participated in attacks in Sanaro Camp, Khuzdar, Nal and Bela, adding that the organization provided weapons, operational instructions and communication channels before every attack. According to his statement, members were financially rewarded after completing assigned missions.
The suspect also claimed that two civilians were killed when militants opened fire during an attack on a Khuzdar police checkpoint. He alleged that he received Rs25,000 as compensation following the attacks in Khuzdar and Bela.
Speaking about the group's recruitment tactics, Habibullah alleged that many young men joined due to unemployment and financial hardship.
He claimed recruits were enticed with false promises and later blackmailed to prevent them from leaving the organization. According to his statement, anyone attempting to quit the group faced the threat of being killed.
Habibullah further alleged that living conditions inside the camps were poor, with shortages of food forcing members to survive by looting nearby villages.
Security officials said the suspect's statement offers further insight into the alleged recruitment methods and operational structure of the militant network.
