Govt’s petroleum team defends Rs25 per liter increase in petrol price

Federal Petroleum Minister Omer Ayub said Pakistan is not an oil-producing country but still the POL prices are lower in comparison to other countries.
He was addressing a press talk in Islamabad on Saturday along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Baber.
The federal minister said government believed in stating facts in front of the people.
He said that POL prices have been increased by 25 percent in Pakistan in comparison to international oil prices that had increased up by 112 perecnt in recent times.
Omer Ayub said the PTI government is fighting against mafias.
N-league increased the POL prices 31 times in in one month, he claimed.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Baber said in India per liter petrol is Rs 180.
Nadeem Babar said that the price of oil in the world market was $44.54 on June 20 while on May 18, PSO bought oil at $21.60 per barrel, Nadeem Babar added.
In Japan per liter petrol is available at Rs 196, he further added.
