The Emergency Department of Ganga Ram Hospital has been upgraded with a state-of-the-art laparoscopic surgery facility, aimed at improving patient outcomes and ensuring faster recoveries, officials said on Friday.

Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, along with Medical Superintendent Dr. Arif Iftikhar, visited the hospital and formally inaugurated two newly installed, modern laparoscopes.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gondal stated that the addition of the laparoscopic facility to the emergency department marks a major step forward in providing minimally invasive surgical care to patients in critical conditions.

“With the introduction of modern laparoscopic surgery in the emergency department, patients will benefit from quicker recovery times and reduced hospital stays,” said Prof. Gondal.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by leading medical faculty, including former Pro Vice Chancellor and Head of the Department of Surgery Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Prof. Imran Aslam, Prof. Qamar Ashfaq, Dr. Shabbir Chauhan, and several other senior doctors and faculty members.

Laparoscopic surgery, often referred to as keyhole surgery, allows surgeons to perform procedures with minimal incisions, reducing the risk of complications and improving recovery speed. The newly installed equipment is equipped with cutting-edge imaging and precision tools, enhancing the surgical capabilities of the hospital.

Prof. Gondal appreciated the efforts of the surgical team and hospital administration in upgrading the emergency services and emphasised the importance of continuing investment in healthcare technology to meet growing medical demands.
