Notorious dacoit shot dead in encounter with Sialkot police

One dacoit was killed and his colleague escaped during a police encounter in Sialkot, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

A spokesman of the police said that a police team signaled the armed dacoits to stop. 

The dacoits were riding a motorcycle on a blockade in Ramgarh area at Aimanabad Road in the jurisdiction of Nekapura Police Station.

After taking notice of the police party, the dacoits opened fire on them.

Later, the dacoits escaped towards a nallah. After the stoppage of firing, police found the dead body of a dacoit, and his colleague fled away from the scene, taking advantage of the darkness.

The dead dacoit was later identified as Masoom alias Moma. 

Police spokesman further revealed that the dead dacoit was wanted by police in some serious criminal cases, including attempted murder, dacoity, snatching, and encounter with police.

Police spokesman said that the dacoit was nominated in 17 serious criminal cases.
