A team from the Rawalpindi Health Department came under attack in Bhabra Bazaar after attempting to stop a vehicle carrying unhygienic meat, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
According to the channel report, local shopkeeper Awais, along with his accomplices, assaulted the team and held both the health inspector and an official hostage.
The suspects also snatched official documents from Food Inspector Malik Usman during the altercation.
Following an emergency call to the police helpline 15, law enforcement swiftly responded and successfully rescued the abducted health officials.
One suspect was arrested on the spot, while Waris Khan Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the remaining culprits.
