PTI issues show-cause notice to MNA Iqbal Afridi over alleged misconduct

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to MNA Iqbal Afridi, accusing him of serious violations of party discipline, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

According to the notice, Afridi allegedly displayed inappropriate and disrespectful behaviour toward fellow PTI lawmakers on multiple occasions.

The party claimed that several such incidents were captured on camera and widely circulated on television and social media.

The notice further alleged that the MNA used insulting and offensive language against fellow party members and repeatedly violated decisions taken by the PTI parliamentary party during proceedings of the National Assembly.

PTI also accused Afridi of behaving disrespectfully toward both junior and senior staff of the National Assembly, describing his conduct as unacceptable.

The party further claimed that on June 23, 2026, outside Adiala Jail, Afridi planned an attack on PTI lawmakers.

According to the notice, one of his associates allegedly assaulted several MNAs, while Afridi himself was directly involved in the incident.

The notice stated that his alleged actions damaged the party's public image, amounted to serious misconduct, violated party discipline, and undermined the unity and cohesion of PTI.

The party has directed Iqbal Afridi to submit a written explanation within seven days of receiving the notice, explaining why his primary membership should not be cancelled and why he should not be expelled from PTI.

The notice warned that if no reply was submitted within the stipulated period, further disciplinary action would be taken in accordance with the party's constitution.
