Another person infected by the coronavirus died in Lahore on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to three in the provincial capital and four in Punjab.
The latest victim was 70-year-old Muhammad Hanif – a resident of Sheikhupura – who died in a washroom of Mayo Hospital in a tragic manner.
24NewsHD reported that none of the staff members in the isolation ward –established the North Medical Ward – even touched the patient who continued yelling for help.
According to Shakeel Khan, a 24NewsHD producer, the elderly man was tied with bed during the night after being shifted to the hospital due to respiratory problems.
The other patients phoned the hospital staff for medical assisting but no one came to rescue the old man.
Later in the morning, Hanif was untied and allowed to go to washroom around 10am, but he fell from the bed. On this, the janitors were asked to carry him.
When he did not come out even after 30 minutes, the door was opened only to find him dead in the washroom.
The patients have alleged that the hospital staff is treating them badly.
