Taking notice of the smuggling of different items, including petroleum products, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an important meeting today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The prime minister has directed the concerned officials of Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Energy, and Ministry of Industries to come to the PM office today and share their proposals with him so that a final strategy could be chalked out in this regard.

Sources told 24News that complaints of the smuggling of wheat, sugar and fertilizers were again being received.

They added that the smuggling of these items was causing the loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer annually.

They said that in this connection, Oil Companies Advisory Council had also written a letter to the federal government.

Sources disclosed that in order to control smuggling, PM Shehbaz was likely to give some important assignments to the Ministry of Interior in the coming days.

There was also a likelihood of the resumption of a crackdown on the people involved in smuggling.
