Unprecedented increase in the petroleum products’ (POL) prices was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Making the federal government, Ministry of Petroleum and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) as respondents, the petitioner prayed to the court to declare the government’s decision of hike in the prices null and void.
On the other hand, masses have shown their deep anger at the government’s decision, saying it was one step ahead of its predecessor in terms of increasing the prices of essential items.
They have expressed the fear that such a massive increase will increase inflation in the country.
Finance Minister Miftah Ismael, while addressing a press conference yesterday (Thursday), had announced Rs30 per liter hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.
