KP Police seek Rs20b in upcoming budget amid security challenges
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have demanded Rs20 billion from the provincial government in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. This amount is three times more than the current budget of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police force.
The police have demanded this amount from the provincial government to buy sophisticated weapons and thermal guns, armoured vehicles, latest IT gadgets and improvement of police infrastructure in the districts which were earlier part of the formerly Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
Giving a break-up of the budget the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have demanded for the upcoming fiscal year, police said Rs14.5 billion has been demanded for the administrative districts and Rs3 billion for the merged districts.
Sources say that it is need of the hour to equip the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police the latest weapons and technology amid security challenges.
