Brother rescued from river, another still missing
A fishing trip turned tragic for two brothers who drowned in the river Sutlej near Bahawalpur on Sunday, reported 124NewsHd TV channel.
Muhammad Gulzar and Mumtaz Ahmed, residents of Nawabpura Bahawalpur, were fishing on the bank of the river when they slipped and fell into the water.
Locals who witnessed the incident rushed to their rescue and managed to pull Gulzar alive from the river. He was given first aid by the rescue team and shifted to Victoria Hospital for further treatment.
However, Ahmed could not be saved and his body is still missing.
The rescue operation to find him was suspended due to low light and will resume on Monday. The incident took place on Jhangiwala Road, Mochian Patan, where the river is deep and swift.
