Govt defers levy of GST on solar energy domestic producers

Good news for the solar energy domestic producers as the federal government on Thursday deferred the imposition of general sales tax (GST) on them temporarily, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The government accepted the request to revisit its decision to levy 16 per cent GST.
President Asif Ali Zardari accepted the appeal and directed the federal ombudsman to conduct the hearing again.
All power distribution companies (Discos) had filed an appeal against the decision as they had to pay hefty amounts to consumers following the levy of the tax.
