Another 773 people tested positive for the coronavirus during the past 24 hours (Monday) in different parts of the country, raising the overall number of cases to 329,375, showed the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Tuesday morning.

With the addition of these new cases, the number of infections reported in Sindh has now increased to 144,114. The distribution of the coronavirus cases for other provinces and regions is:

Punjab 103,082, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 39, 119, Islamabad 19,181, Balochistan 15,839, Gilgit-Baltistan 4,191 and Azad Kashmir 3,849.

The latest cases show that Islamabad is badly affected by the recent uptick in new cases as the local administration has started sealing various localities to curb the spread.

On the other hand, six more died of the coronavirus infection on Monday – one each in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir – after which the death toll in the country has now reached 6,745.

Meanwhile, 365 coronavirus patients fully recovered from the infection during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people overcoming the infection to 311,440. Hence, a total of 318,185 cases have so far closed [deaths + number of people recovering from infection] in the country.

The increase of infection rate means the number of active cases is also on the rise with the country currently having 11,190 coronavirus patients with 853 of them receiving treatment in hospitals.

Out of these hospitalised patients, 576 are in intensive care units due to their critical condition. Moreover, 93 of them have been placed on ventilators.

As far as the testing is concerned, the officials administered another 27,133 tests across the country on Monday, after which their overall number has now jumped to 4,317,678.
