Two dacoits shot dead in police encounters in Lahore and Swabi

Two dacoits were gunned down and a policeman seriously injured during separate police encounters in Lahore and Swabi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The first police encounter took place in Taj Company Islampura area of Lahore, where a Crime Control Department (CCD) team brought an accused for recovery.

Soon after taking notice of the CCD team, some accomplices of the accused started firing on the police team.

During the exchange of fire, the accused Nadeem received serious bullet wounds. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but died on the way.

Later, the accomplices of the accused flee from the area, taking advantage of the darkness. CCD sources said that the accused Nadeem was involved in more than five dozen criminal cases, which include dacoity, vehicle snatching, and murder.

The CCD team shifted the dead body of the accused to the hospital’s mortuary for a post-mortem.

The second police encounter occurred in Swabi where an accused opened fire on the police team who thwarted his attempt to snatch a motorcycle from a citizen.

The accused was snatching a motorcycle from a citizen on gunpoint when a police team reached. After taking notice of the police team, the accused took shelter on the roof of a market.

During exchange of fire, one policeman, Israr also became seriously injured. The accused also received gunshots and died.

Police recovered a pistol and narcotics from his possession. The identity of the accused is still unknown. Later, the police shifted the dead body of the accused to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ), Swabi.
