Former naval chief Admiral Sharif passes away

Former naval chief Admiral (retd) Mohammad Sharif, who led the Pakistan Navy for four years, passed away late Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Born in the Bhurchh Basoha area of Kharian in Gujrat in 1920, Admiral Sharif showed bravery in the World War II as well as Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971. As a result, he was decorated with Hilal-e-Jurat and other awards.
He was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff on March 23, 1979 after the tragic death of his predecessor Hassan Hafeez.
Admiral Sharif was a close relative of Shaheed Major Aziz Bhatti and former army chief General Raheel Sharif.
