26,000 Punjab schools included in Green Programme

More than 26,000 schools in Punjab have been included in the Green School Programme and 7.6 million students and teachers were also registered in the Programme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to Secretary Environment Department Salut Saeed, promotion of green culture has been started in educational institutions and environmental awareness has been made a part of the curriculum. 

Practical steps have been started on air, water and energy.

Environment-friendly activities in schools have increased significantly.

We will train the new generation in an eco-friendly lifestyle. 

A strict monitoring system has been implemented at 100 points.

It has been decided to give 5-star certification to performance-oriented schools.

More than 80 percent of government schools are included in the program and interest of private educational institutions is increasing.

In this regard, special awareness sessions will be held in big cities. 

Environment-friendly training program for teachers has also been started.

International organizations are participating in the Green School Programme.
