Aleema Khan ends sit-in on Adiala Road, urges PTI leadership to step up

Aleema Khan on Tuesday called off a sit-in at the Factory Checkpoint on Adiala Road and left the venue along with her sisters Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan.

Workers accompanying Aleema Khan also dispersed, while police personnel stationed at the Factory Checkpoint wrapped up the security setup following the conclusion of the protest.

Earlier, speaking to the media at the Gorakhpur Checkpoint, Aleema Khan said the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, fears only Allah and has never asked supporters to come out for him.

She claimed that the PTI founder was dissatisfied with the party’s legal team, stating that it is the responsibility of lawyers to pursue his cases effectively. She questioned the absence of those who had actively participated in election campaigns, as well as the party’s top leadership, urging them to come and sit in protest as others have been doing.

Aleema Khan remarked that if even ten thousand people gathered, it would highlight concerns regarding the treatment of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. She added that they had been visiting the site for over two and a half years while court proceedings continued.

She clarified that she was not calling on workers or voters to gather, but instead urged party officials to take responsibility by staging protests themselves.

Expressing broader discontent, Aleema Khan said that “nothing is normal” and claimed that there is widespread anger across the country. She added that pressure would now have to be increased within the party.

Referring to recent developments, she said the PTI founder had sent his lawyer Salman Safdar with the message of “liberty or death,” asserting that Imran Khan remains steadfast and unafraid.
