Funds worth millions for police officers’ houses released

The government of Punjab has released funds worth hundreds of millions of rupees for police officers’ houses in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to report, Rs643.4 million have been released for development projects and police infrastructure while Rs39.7 million have been allocated for accommodation of grade 18 and 19 officers on Bedian Road.

Further, Rs250 million have been approved for SPU headquarters in Raiwind area.

Moreover, Rs60 million will be spent on construction of new police station in Satukatla in Lahore while Rs59.7 million allocated for anti-riot force headquarters in Harbanspura and Rs92 million for construction of residences for grade 20 officers in Qurban Lines.

Rs142 million have been allocated for construction of 10 houses in Lahore.

Funds were approved by the Punjab government on the request of former IG Dr. Usman Anwar.

Police seek details of unused funds

Punjab Police has sought details from all districts to cover the deficit in their budget for current fiscal year. 

The government had released a budget of Rs194.5 billion by cutting Rs5.5 billion from the current fiscal year's Rs200 billion budget. 

Purchases, martyrs, death in service and other funds worth Rs5.5 billion were withheld. 

The details of the funds released for the four quarters and the unused funds have been ordered to be sent to the IG office immediately.
