Pakistan rejects Afghan media claims of attack on university in Kunar
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has categorically rejected claims by Afghan media regarding an alleged attack on a university in Afghanistan’s Kunar province.
According to the ministry, a report by Tulu News claimed that the Pakistani army carried out strikes in Kunar on April 27, 2026, targeting Syed Jamaluddin Afghan University and nearby residential areas.
The report alleged that the attack resulted in three deaths and injuries to 45 people.
However, the ministry dismissed the claims as “a complete lie,” stating that no such attack took place. It termed the allegations baseless and false, emphasizing that there was no strike on the university.

The statement added that such claims are part of a pattern in which Afghan media circulates fake news to conceal alleged support for militant groups, including what it referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
It further said that these narratives are often amplified by Indian media to mislead the international community.
Reiterating its position, the ministry stated that Pakistan’s actions are based on intelligence and are carried out with accuracy, rejecting any suggestion of targeting civilian or educational institutions.
