PTI denied permission to host workers convention in Lahore, moves LHC

Authorities in Lahore have denied permission to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a workers’ convention at Razaq Stadium in Shahdara, triggering a legal challenge in the Lahore High Court.

According to officials, the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore rejected PTI’s request to organize the convention at the specified venue, citing administrative reasons.

Following the refusal, the party approached the high court, where the matter is scheduled for hearing before Justice Farooq Haider.

However, the Registrar’s Office has raised objections to the petition, noting that the relevant forum had not been approached prior to filing the case.

During the proceedings, Punjab Law Officer Muhammad Farrukh Khan Lodhi is expected to present the government’s stance, while the Assistant Advocate General will argue for dismissal of the petition on procedural grounds.

The case comes amid ongoing tensions between the PTI and local administration over permissions for political gatherings in the provincial capital.
